BankSouth proudly announces the retirement of Karen Watson, Senior Credit Officer, after an exemplary 15 years of service. Karen’s career has been defined by her unwavering dedication to excellence, her leadership in credit operations, and her steadfast commitment to BankSouth’s mission of serving customers and strengthening the communities we call home.

“Karen has been an integral part of our team, bringing expertise, dedication, and care to every aspect of her role,” said Dawn Taylor, Chief Credit Officer. “Her leadership and insight have played a pivotal role in helping BankSouth achieve its mission of empowering our customers and community with personalized lending solutions. She will be greatly missed.”

Over her tenure, Karen’s contributions have been instrumental in shaping BankSouth’s credit and lending operations, driving growth, and upholding the bank’s core values of “Be Ready. Be Responsive. Be Respectful.” Her colleagues, inspired by her professionalism and thoughtful mentorship, view her as a role model who sets a high standard for excellence.

“I’ve enjoyed working with Karen for the past 15 years. Karen served as an extremely effective Chair of our Asset Committee. Board members and others relied on Karen’s knowledge and integrity in leading this critical banking committee”, said Harold Reynolds, Chairman and CEO. “Her expertise and commitment to BankSouth has been inspiring, and she will be missed. I celebrate her well-earned retirement and wish her and her family the very best as they embark on this exciting new chapter.”

Karen’s impact extended beyond the walls of BankSouth. By ensuring sound credit decisions and fostering trust within the lending process, she indirectly touched countless customers’ lives, enabling them to achieve their financial goals and aspirations.

As she transitions into retirement, Karen and her husband plan to relocate to South Carolina to be closer to her parents and enjoy time exploring the state’s beautiful golf courses.

“It has been an honor to work alongside such a talented team and contribute to an organization that truly cares for its community and employees,” Karen shared. “I am excited for what’s next, but I will always cherish the memories and relationships built during my time at BankSouth.”
