GREENSBORO, GA. – BankSouth is pleased to welcome Destiny McClendon as a Marketing Specialist. In her new role, McClendon will support community outreach efforts, develop engaging content, and help tell the stories of the people, businesses, and organizations that make BankSouth unique.
A native of Union Point, Georgia, McClendon brings a blend of creative storytelling, marketing expertise, and community leadership to BankSouth. She graduated from Lake Oconee Academy and later earned a Bachelor of Arts in Digital Media Production and Journalism from Flagler College after beginning her studies in Strategic Communications at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. While at Flagler, she earned Presidential List honors and served as a published multimedia producer for the college newspaper.
Her professional experience includes serving as Marketing Coordinator for the Rotary Club of Greene and Putnam Counties, Multimedia Journalist for the Flagler College Newspaper, Computer Lab Instructor at the Pete Nance Boys & Girls Club of North Central Georgia, and Family Ministry Coordinator at Lake Oconee Church. Throughout each role, she has demonstrated a passion for connecting with people, building relationships, and communicating stories that strengthen communities.
“Destiny’s enthusiasm for serving others and her passion for authentic storytelling make her a natural fit for BankSouth,” said Bryce McCuin, Director of Marketing. “She already has strong roots throughout Greene County and a genuine desire to invest in the people around her. We’re excited to see the relationships she will build and the stories she will help share across our communities.”
“BankSouth’s strong commitment to community involvement and relationship-focused banking immediately stood out to me,” said McClendon. “I am passionate about connecting with people, telling meaningful stories, and making a positive impact. I’m excited to join a team that genuinely invests in the people it serves.”
McClendon’s commitment to service extends well beyond the workplace. She is an active member of the Rotary Club of Greene and Putnam Counties and volunteers with the Pete Nance Boys & Girls Club, Second Harvest, and Shoes for Kids. Her dedication to youth leadership earned her recognition as Georgia Boys & Girls Club Youth of the Year in 2020, as well as Southeast Region Runner-Up.
She also enjoyed a standout collegiate basketball career, competing all four years at the NCAA Division I level. In 2023, she helped the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga capture the Southern Conference Women’s Basketball Championship and earn a berth in the NCAA Tournament. Her leadership on and off the court also led to opportunities to play professionally overseas.
Outside of work, McClendon enjoys traveling, creating video content, singing, volunteering throughout the community, attending local events, and spending time with family and friends. She is also a purple belt in Taekwondo.
