Creating & Editing Pages

To create a new page, go to: Pages > Add New
To edit an existing page, go to: Pages > find the page you’d like to edit > Edit

  • Enter a title in the field that says “Add Title.”
    • This will be the H1 for your page.
  • Permalink — This is where you can update the URL for the page.
    • Note: Upon saving the draft or publishing the page a URL will be auto-generated based upon what is entered into the title field. If you wish to change or adjust this URL, you can do that under the “Permalink” section.
  • Page Attributes — This is where you can assign a parent page.
    • If you assign a page to a parent page it will change the URL structure of the page. So for example, if “new page” is assigned to “old page,” its URL will change to /old-page/new-page.
  • Additional Page Content — Scroll to the bottom of the page to the “Additional Page Content” section, where you should see options for the following fields:
      • H1 override (which overrides the H1 set in the page title)
      • Header Text
      • Header Image
      • Extra Body Text
        • Note: The Extra Body Text field acts as a second column of page content text.
  • Yoast SEO — Scroll to the bottom of the page to the “Yoast SEO” section. Here you should see options to edit the SEO title and meta description.
    • Add specific SEO title and meta description for the page.
    • Use the social sharing tab in Yoast to set specific content for Facebook and Twitter.
    • You can also hide pages from sitemap and Google search:
      • Go to the “Advanced Settings” tab in Yoast.
      • Select the settings No (Index) and No (Follow) will hide pages from the sitemap and Google search.
  • Page Blocks — Once your page is set up, and you’re ready to start adding page blocks, you can do this by adding them with the Page Blocks join field.

Page Blocks

Note: Page blocks are created separately from pages, and then joined to the desired page(s). They do not appear on your site unless they are assigned to a page. You can either assign pages from the page block backend or from the page backend you can join created page blocks.

To create a new page block, go to: Page Blocks > Add New
To edit an existing page block: Page Blocks > find the page block  you’d like to edit > Edit (OR: Navigate to the page where the page block lives and click the “Edit” button in the upper left corner of the page block.)

  • Existing page blocks can be “Cloned” or “Copied to a New Draft” but you must rename and change the joined pages or duplicates will appear on those pages.
  • Page blocks may be used on multiple pages exactly as they are created (you may consider naming these starting with “Global”). Keep in mind that any edits made to this page block will be reflected across all occurrences of this block.

Adding New Page Blocks

  • Name your page block where it says “Add Title.”
    • Note: unlike page titles, this title is not associated with SEO in any way.
    • You will want to name it intuitively, such as starting with the name of the page this block will be joined to, followed by the block layout, and perhaps the beginning content of the block. This will make it easier to find to edit later.
  • Select your desired layout from the drop-down menu. Visit the Page Block Master page to see the various page block layout options available.
  • Select your designed background color (if applicable)
  • Fill out your page block’s content in the wysiwygs and image fields.
  • Join this page block to specific page(s) in the “Page Block” join section of the page.
    • Note: This page block will appear at the bottom of the page you assign it to. If you need to rearrage the blocks, you can do that in the backend of the page itself.
  • Save as Draft, Publish (or Update to save an edit) the page block to save it. Remember, even published page blocks will not be visible on a page until it has be joined to that page.

Content Editor (WYSIWYG)

Entering content into the content editor:

  • You can type content directly into the WYSIWYG editor or copy/paste from a word processor.
  • If you are copying and pasting content, always use the “Clear Formatting” button after pasting. You can also “paste as plain text.”
  • Use the “Special Characters” button (Ω) to replace any special characters from pasted content. If not, the coding may be different.

Content Styles

For more information about all of the various content styles possible for your site, visit your Content Styles Page.

  • Header Styles
    • Different header styles are preloaded in the “Paragraph” dropdown menu and are labeled (Header 1, Header 2, etc.)
    • You will never have to select h1 as the page name or title override will automatically create the h1 for this page.
    • Highlight the text and then select the desired header style.
  • Format Styles
    • Different format styles are preloaded in the “Formats” dropdown menu.
    • Add intro text styling by highlighting the text and selecting “Intro Text” from the dropdown.
    • Turn links into buttons by highlighting the link text and selecting “Button” or “Button Secondary” from the dropdown.

External Link Disclaimer

Note: Examples of link disclaimers can also be found on the Content Styles page.

A disclaimer modal is displayed whenever a user clicks a link that navigates to a different host (ie, a website other than banksouth.com, banksouth.com, etc). Below are instructions for inserting disclaimer links in various ways:

External Links (with Standard Disclaimer)

To insert an external link with the standard disclaimer:

  • Add your link text
  • Click the insert/edit link button and add your external link

External Links (with Custom Disclaimer)

    • data-disclaimer-text= (this controls the customized text of the disclaimer)
  • Add your custom text to these fields in the ” ” after the respective classes.
  • Save and test your link on the front end.

Here’s an example of a custom disclaimer & title:

External Links (with No Disclaimer)

  • Click the insert/edit link button and add your external link
  • Then toddle the WYSIWYG text editor to the “text” or HTML side

      • Join them to a WYSIWYG text editor with the shortcode

where X is the number associated with the specific hours block.

Calculators

Calculators are technically not their own post type but rather a piece of shortcode that can be added to any WYSIWYG text editor.
Note: Calculators will look best when they’re given the full width of the page to display. For this reason, we recommen using just the main text area of a page to display calculators.

To add a calculator to a page:

  • Navigate to the text area where you want the calculator to live
  • Add this shortcode:
  • Replace the space between quotation marks with the code for the calculator you want to appear.
  • The following codes will allow various calculators to appear:
    • CompareLoan
    • CreditLine
    • MortgageLoan
    • MortgageRefinance
    • MortgageRentvsBuy
    • SimpleLoan
  • Here’s an example of this in action

Media Library

Note: Images should be cropped and compressed before adding to the media library. It is recommended that images be no larger than 250kb (though sometimes this is unavoidable). You will want to crop the image to the appropriate dimension prior to compressing. This site, tinypng.com, can be helpful in compressing file sizes for sized images.

    • Alternative Text
    • Title
    • Caption
    • Description

    • Edit redirect, email admin and email user settings for each form
      • Redirect — Redirects to thank you page
