Upgrades in Online Banking and the App: Pay Bills, Pay a Person, and External Transfers

We’ve made it even easier to pay bills and transfer money in online banking and the BankSouth mobile app.

You’re a busybody, with a lot going on — whether it’s keeping track of activities with your children or grandchildren, working hard to climb the corporate ladder, or you’re a busy entrepreneur growing your business. Banking should not be something that takes time away from the things you love and are passionate about. That’s why we decided that we needed to give our customers a better way to pay bills and make external transfers online and, in our app. 

Starting on November 14, in your app and online banking, you will see a new interface when you pay bills online, make person-to-person payments, and make external transfers. 

Why are we converting to a new Pay Bills, Pay a Person, and Transfer Money online process? 

There are several different reasons — but the biggest reason is to make it easier for our customers to manage their money in online banking and our mobile app! These upgrades will help you spend less time paying bills and moving money, and more time living your life. We can’t wait to see what you think about these improvements! 

What’s new in the way I will pay bills? 

Formerly known as Bill Pay, “Pay Bills” has a new user interface that is easy to navigate and comprehend. Here, you see our legacy interface for paying bills online. 

Old Look:

The new interface, shown below, is clean and inviting allowing you to manage your bills like a pro.

What’s new in the way I transfer money?

You still have the option to transfer money both internally and externally to accounts at other financial institutions. You will notice a similar look and feel to that of the new Pay Bills section. We have upgraded the way our customers move money where they need it to go. Don’t forget to set up the alert options so you get notified when a transfer is being initiated and when it is delivered.

Here, you will see a fresh new look at how you set up external money transfers, called “Transfer Money”. The from and to accounts are clearly identified, when the money will be delivered, as well as how often.

Can I still pay family and friends?

Of course! We know that sending money to family and friends is a common part of everyday life, from helping a family member out during a hard time to paying a friend back for dinner. Person-to-person payments are now called “Pay a Person” in online banking and the mobile app — all you need is an email address or phone number, and away the money goes! Even better, the transfer can be delivered as soon as the next business day or same-day for a small fee.

The process couldn’t be simpler. Below shows the legacy and new interfaces of person-to-person payments.
