GREENSBORO – BankSouth is proud to sponsor the Greene County Library’s summer reading program. The program is designed to help citizens of all ages in the county reach their reading goals, while also providing engaging activities for families during summer break.

Supported by the Friends of the Greene County Library, the 8-week program encourages children and adults to read by completing weekly reading logs. In addition, the library hosts activites like spelling bees, movie days, talent shows, animal shows and arts and crafts projects presented by local organizations in and near the community.

BankSouth’s donation was presented by Frances Strickland, BankSouth Board Member and active supporter of the Friends of the Greene County Library. The bank’s donation directly funds the activities offered through the summer reading program.

“The Friends of the Library so very much appreciates BankSouth’s generous contribution to the summer reading program. We are very grateful for the opportunities this donation has provided to the visitors of the library,” said Sandy Brozowski, President of the Friends of the Greene County Library.

As summer break comes to an end, Lonya Jackson-Sarden, Manager of the Greene County Library, hopes the program is the start of more programs for the library beyond the summer season.

“The summer reading program is an opportunity to get the citizens of Greene County familiar with the library while also helping with parent involvement,” said Jackson-Sarden. “At the end of the summer we hope to retain this engagement by hosting more activities like these throughout the year,” she continued.

BankSouth is proud to support the Greene County Library in its mission to provide access to educational and recreational tools and resources for the citizens of Greene County. To learn more about the Greene County Library, visit www.uncleremus.org/greene or call 706-453-7276.
