Tina Brown, Vice-President, Director of Bank Platforms, began her career in banking on August 31, 1981, with Citizens Union Bank, which became BankSouth in 2004.
Tina began working as a teller and was moved to the role of Telephone Operator with the completion of the “New” Greensboro office on 200 North East Street in April of 1982. When not answering the phone, she also served as a part-time teller and bookkeeper.
Throughout the years, she ran proof, managed Cash Items, reconciled the correspondent bank statements, as well as various other areas in bookkeeping, all while continuing to keep her teller drawer and work when needed, on Wednesdays (yes, we were closed, except for Drive-thru window), as well as backup for teller line.
Citizens Union Bank converted from an outside core processor to an in-house Banking Software process in September 1985.
In 1987, she was promoted to Systems Operator to manage the in-house Banking Hardware and Software processing and was further promoted in 1993 to Director of Information Systems. She implemented the bank’s first Wide Area Network and was responsible for many of the automation systems, which included loans, deposits, debit cards, ATMs, accounting services, accounts payable, telephone systems, bank website, online banking, bill payment and conversion to an electronic time clock system. She was instrumental in the bank’s first Check imaging system and Citizens Union Bank issued its first Imaged statements in February 1996. Citizens Union Bank was the second bank in the state of Georgia to issue imaged statements.
In 2008, the “Bookkeeping Department” was reorganized and relocated from the downtown Greensboro office to the Lake Oconee office. Tina was promoted to Support Center Manager and continued to manage the Information Technology Systems. The Support Center included Customer Support, Deposit Operations, Loan Operations, Accounts Payable, and Items Processing (check imaging capture).
Today, with all the recent changes throughout the bank, some from the acquisition of North Georgia Bank, the Technology area, Loan Operations, and Customer Support (now known as Customer Care Center) have been moved to their own department.
In November 2019 BankSouth replaced their core banking software, which was a huge task since the current core was initially implemented in Sept 1985. Tina was promoted to Director of Bank Platforms, managing the New Core processing program and continuing to support the Deposit ancillary products, for teller, accounting, deposit operations, retail operations, digital banking, ATM, and Loan Operations as needed.
Throughout the last 42+ years, she’s worked closely with senior management, as continued support for the BankSouth Enterprise. Tina has made a tremendous impact on BankSouth and we look forward to continue having her as part of the BankSouth family. Thank you for all you do, Tina!
