Q. How can I set up direct deposit to my account?
A. To set up direct deposit (ACH) to your account at BankSouth, you will want to check with your employer and complete a Direct Deposit Authorization form. If you have questions completing the form, please contact a Personal Banker at any of our locations. The completed form should then be submitted to your employer. Your employer will let you know when to expect your first direct deposit.

Q. How can I send or receive a wire transfer?

Q. Can I reorder checks online? 
A. BankSouth has partnered with Harland to safely and conveniently manage check reorders. Click here to reorder checks online. Please note that you will need your routing/transit number, account number and the starting number of your next check. For more information, please call or stop by one of our BankSouth branches near you to complete your order.

Q. What types of overdraft protection does BankSouth offer? How can I set up overdraft protection on my checking account?
A. BankSouth Bank offers several options for overdraft protection on your checking account. Please contact a Personal Banker for details. 

Q. What rules are associated with overdraft? What fees are assessed?
A. BankSouth assesses a fee for each item that is presented for payment when funds are not available. For more information on fees and disclosures, see our Schedule of Fees.

Q. How can I stop a payment?
A. You may request stop payment services for a check that has not already been accepted by BankSouth for processing by contacting Customer Care (706) 453-2265 or a Personal Banker. A stop payment order will be in effect for six months. There is a $28.00 fee for all stop payments. 
Please Note: Stop payment requests do not apply to online bill payments. For help with electronic payments, please call Customer Care at (706) 453-2265.

Q. Why was I assessed an ATM fee?
A. You may be charged a terminal fee by other banks when using your BankSouth ATM card at their ATMs when making cash withdrawals. You may also be charged a fee for a balance inquiry even if you do not complete a funds transfer. Please refer to the Schedule of Fees for information on ATM fees.

Q. What is an ACH transaction?
A. Any item that posts to a checking account which was initiated by the customer providing their account and routing number electronically. Examples: Insurance Premiums, Cell Phone payments, Utility payments

Q. How do I dispute an ACH transaction?
A. Contact your Personal Banker or one of our Customer Care associates at (706) 453-2265.

Q. How can I dispute a transaction posting to my checking or savings account?
A. Contact your Personal Banker or one of our Customer Care associates at (706) 453-2265.

Q. How can I get a status update on a dispute previously submitted?
A. Contact Customer Care at (706) 453-2265 and we’ll be glad to give you an update. 

Q. I think BankSouth reported information on my credit report inaccurately. How can I dispute this reporting? 
A. To dispute an item reported to the credit bureaus by BankSouth, perform the following:
  1. Call BankSouth's Customer Care Center at (706) 453-2265.
  2. Write a letter of dispute explaining why you believe that a credit reporting error exists, and include your contact information (including name, address, and telephone number), account number, type of account, explanation of error, and a copy of your credit report with the information you are disputing.
If you are disputing an item reported to Chexsystem, please visit a BankSouth Office near you.
